Aight
flow is prolly the most important aspect of battling and topical writing. It makes it easier for the reader to read your piece. Not only does it make your piece more enjoyable but also more understandable. Lets say you have pretty good knowledge of what you’re writing about you got to make your audience understand what your talking about, and flow is the was you can do it.
Here is an example of good flow, im not the best at flow because I like to use inner rhymes which ill explain later.
behind two specific hills, two armies rush in their scurries
although the soldiers rush, deep inside there are no worries
see how the syllables match sort of and how the lines are at same length.
The syllables don’t have to match perfectly just so they are close, and please don’t count the syllables in every line, that would take forever just make sure the lines are close at length and sound out every bar-( 2 lines ) .
Here is an example of bad flow
I am ashamed of defeat and defeat is upon me
I am thirsty in the desert im just a lone tree
not only did that not make sense but it didn’t flow well
your lines can stretch and be short at the same time, the last line is what is important so if its to long its stretched and if it is shorter then the first one its to short.
Also both lines could be too long and the end word loses its rhythm in the text, heres an example
the battle has begun as I call my lieutenants to prepare for the blood shed killing
on the top of the hill I command them to march, nothing could be more thrilling
you can correct this with inner rhymes which is my favorite thing to do, and im getting pretty good at it.
For ten miles, winds smell of blood in the fresh battlefield
no gates for the cowardly escapes, in their heart the fear is sealed
see how I used gates and escapes to make the line flow to some extent. Don’t mistake inner rhyming as multies ill further this more with another topic labeled Multies.
